Every dig makes dirt, and every low spot needs it. Hauling is often a big line on an excavation quote, and in Gilbert it can also involve the town's traffic engineering team.

How much dirt?
Volume in cubic yards is length times width times depth in feet, divided by 27. A 16 by 32 foot pool is about 114 cubic yards by Angi's figures. Ask how the contractor estimated the volume and the number of loads.

Gilbert's haul route permit
Gilbert's engineering permit checklist says work on or near a roadway, or a haul route permit, needs a Traffic Engineering Application. The same checklist says the applicant must be the contractor doing the work. Ask your contractor whether your haul needs one.
Bringing fill in
Fill is used to raise a low yard, build up a pad or backfill around a pool. Ask what kind of material it is and where it comes from, and whether it will be compacted in place.
